Nepenthes *zakriana* is a pitcher plant endemic to Sabah. It was elevated to species status in 2018, distinguishing it from related species like *Nepenthes fusca* based on specific morphological differences.
Field notes
Morphology
The species is characterized by prominent raised midribs that extend beyond the apex, forming apical glandular appendages on the lower lid surface of both the upper and lower pitchers. Additionally, the basal half portion of the midrib develops into a nail-shaped glandular crest.
Distribution & habitat
It is described as a Sabah endemic. It grows at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 meters.
History & etymology
The taxon was initially described as *Nepenthes curtisii* subsp. *zakriana* in 1996. Ten years later, it was elevated to species status as *Nepenthes zakriana*. The species was reinstated in 2019 based on isolated distributions and morphology.
