Description

Updated for Feb 2026! Updated for Feb 2026! This amazingly outstanding cross is one of the most impressive hybrids ever made. The pitchers have the waxy texture of N. sibuyanensis combined with the sheer size of N. merrilliana and can grow to be quite enormous. All the clones in this selection have pitchers that are either a deep orange or red. It’s also a vigorous cross, robust and an easy grower. Simply a stunning plant all round, as can be seen on the numerous videos to be found on ourYouTube channel. A specific clone of this cross bred and raised in our nurseries currently holds the Guinness World Record for the largest carnivorous plant by volume, at just under 3 litres. However, larger pitchers are probably possible.History:First introduced Aug 2020 on our old PDF pricelist and added to the shop in June 2021.Origin:Horticultural, bred by Borneo Exotics. The female parent isNepenthes sibuyanensis, selected for its orange colouration from the assorted clones sold under BE-3164, and the male parent is the huge Mt. Legaspi form ofNepenthes merrilliana, selected from amongst the assorted clones sold under BE-3117. Unlike the clones that make up BE-3542, which can be somewhat variable, the form and colouration, the two clones in this item are nearly identical in appearance, which is the reason we decided to mix them and not market them individually.Source:Random mixture of two selected clones. Both of the clones that make up this item were selected for deepest red colouration from the same grex of seeds that make up the assorted clones, which are sold under BE-3542.Photo notes:Photos are of one or the other of the actual clone shipped. The last photos in the series show typical sale plants of sizes Small, Medium & Large (when available). This amazingly outstanding cross is one of the most impressive hybrids ever made.
