A notable Philippine endemic, *Nepenthes merrilliana* is recognized for producing some of the largest pitchers within the genus, rivaling those of *N. rajah*.

Distribution & habitat
Northern and central Mindanao, as well as neighboring Dinagat and Samar in the Philippines. It inhabits coastal forest areas on steep slopes at elevations of 0–1,100 m above sea level.
