A small, terrestrial carnivorous plant, *Utricularia guyanensis* is notable for being the sole member of the section *Stylotheca* within the genus. It is found across a wide range of South and Central American savannas.

Distribution & habitat
Central America (Honduras and Nicaragua) and South America (Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela), growing on wet or damp sandy savannas at lower elevations, up to 1,100 m in BolÃvar.
History & etymology
Originally published and described by Alphonse Pyrame de Candolle in 1844, and placed in its own section, Stylotheca.
Conservation
Assessed as Least Concern (LC) on the IUCN Red List.
