Morphology
The pitchers of *Nepenthes chaniana* are cylindrical and typically white to yellow in coloration. The plant is notable for having a dense indumentum of long, white hairs covering its surface.
Distribution & habitat
This species is native to Sabah and Sarawak, specifically found in areas like Bukit Batu Lawi and other mountains. The type specimen was collected on Mount Alab, the highest peak in Crocker Range National Park.
History & etymology
The type specimen of *N. chaniana* was collected by Charles Clarke on Mount Alab. The species name honors Datuk Chan Chew Lun, who was the Managing Director of Natural History Publications. It was historically misidentified as *N. pilosa*, which is endemic to Kalimantan.
