Endemic to the island of Biak in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, this item was known for many years asNepenthes insignis– Biak form and only received species status in 2018. As part of the species type-description, the unusual characteristic is noted that this species does not form lower pitchers but instead goes directly into forming intermediate and upper pitchers. It’s found mainly growing on limestone rocks at sea level and occasionally in mangrove swamps, but we have found it grows well in highland conditions also, which is why we list it as “intermediate” as the clone offered here seems to be transferable between lowland and highland conditions, at least in our experience.History:First introduced in March 2025.Origin:Horticultural.Source:From a single selected clone.Photo notes:Photos are of the actual clone shipped. The first photo is believed to be free of copyright restrictions, but we are not entirely sure and would welcome any feedback on this. The last photos in the series show typical sale plants of sizes Small, Medium & Large (when available).
