*Nepenthes sumagaya* is a tropical pitcher plant endemic to Mount Sumagaya in the Philippines. It is notable for its unusual combination of morphological characters, making its close relatives within the genus difficult to identify.

Distribution & habitat

Mount Sumagaya, north-central Mindanao, Philippines; found in open areas at elevations ranging from 1,600 m to 2,247 m.

History & etymology

The species was formally described in 2014 by Wistuba et al. under the epithet *amabilis* (Latin for "lovely"), referring to the extraordinary beauty of the colorful pitchers and striped peristomes. This name was later replaced by *N. sumagaya* by Martin Cheek in 2014.
