Nepenthes LVTP ‘Riker’ — mother plant at Grow Carnivorous Plants

About

Nepenthes LVTP is a complex four-parent artificial hybrid with the lineage [(N. lowii × N. veitchii) × N. × tiveyi] × N. platychila, bred from seed by Exotica Plants in Australia. N. × tiveyi is itself N. maxima × N. veitchii, a Victorian-era hybrid from Veitch Nurseries. ‘Riker’ is a selected clone from this cross notable for an exceptionally wide, colorful peristome heavily influenced by N. platychila genetics, with pitchers reaching up to 20 cm. The grex is highly prized among collectors for combining visual drama with adaptability to intermediate conditions.
